Easiest Pizza Crust EVER
3 cups flour (I use all purpose(
1 Pkg. yeast
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 heaping teaspoon salt (I use kosher)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
(I like to add dried basil and oregano when making non-taco versions)
1 cup warm water. (110 degrees)
I can tell when the water is right when I put my wrist in and it is slightly uncomfortable. A thermometer helps till you know for yourself.
Combine everything except water and oil. Stir together well. Add water and oil. Mix till a dough forms. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for a minute or so. Roll out to a 12 inch circle and place on pizza round or stone. Oil pan if you like. I don't like greasy crust so I use corn meal to avoid sticking. Bake pizza at 375 for 20 minutes. Then broil under high broiler for long enough to toast some of the cheese.
Taco Pizza Sauce
1 can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
half a small onion diced finely
1 can green chillies drained
more garlic if you like...I did!
more garlic if you like...I did!
1 teaspoon salt and pepper
After I cooked off the hamburger meat seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper and cumin I used a slotted spoon to remove the meat onto a paper towel lined plate to drain. I used the small amount of oil left in pan to cook the onions and garlic until soft. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for a few minutes.
This makes enough for two pizza so I freeze the remaining sauce and meat for another time. I like having a quick meal ready to make so that I can do other hobbies instead!
I topped this pizza with fresh mozzarella, black olives, cheddar cheese, tomato and I olive oiled the crust edge and flavored it with even more garlic powder and Parmesan cheese. Did I mention that I can make this pizza for a lot less than buying one? I can also make it faster than they can deliver it! Have fun!
Yum - how good does your pizza look?! Haloumi is a salty cheese from Cyprus in Greece, but it is commonly available here in Sydney. The amazing thing about it is you can fry it (very quickly, in a saucepan). Great in a salad or on its own with lemon squeezed over it! Mmmmm...
